“What exactly is street art?”

It is a visionary art form that is usually developed in open public areas and even though it is met with negative connotation, it offers freedom of expression. Utilizing tools as simple as spray paint, ink and markers, street artists are making an unbelievable stamp in the history of art.

Art In The Streets, will serve as an eye opener to the world, offering an array of uniquely designed graffiti and street art. the exhibition provides various sculptures, paintings, photographs and other distinctive art forms by 50 of the most dynamic street artists.

OUTSIDE IN: THE STORY OF ART IN THE STREETS

Like it or not, “Art in the Streets” was one of the most important things to happen to the art world in the last few years, and one of the biggest things ever to happen to graffiti and street art. Director Alex Stapleton takes us inside the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles’ famous exhibition.

From Shepard Fairey to Lee Quiñones, Swoon, Futura, and Mister Cartoon; from Revok to Martha Cooper, Invader and more, the show that took place from April 17-August 8, 2011, followed graffiti and street art as far back as Basquiat and even some of the gang graffiti in the 1940s and 50s in LA. Graffiti and street art are mainstays of the high art world now, and this documentary aims to show how MOCA contributed to that fact.

For the record, I thought the show was tastefully done with what highly controversial subject matter they had to work with.

Enjoy the documentary, it’s perfect for weekend 😉

For the exhibition that took place in the Maison de la famillies in Metz I decide to create art piece that will be mix of the three techniques/ workshops that were actually part of the youth exchange connect with contemporary art called Voice of Art.

Voice of Art was a youth exchange organized by the association Together, on my blog for my stay in France you can find other articles connected with it. In this exchange participants from 6 countries were able to learn more about contemporary art and also to create part of their ideas participating in three workshops: street art, art installations and multimedia.

The street art workshop was leaded by me and can find more about here. The other two workshops were leaded by Bruno de Sario, Italy [art installation] and  Agnieszka Piatczak, Poland and Ramses The lonelywarrior, France [multimedia].

I have some expirience with video/ multi media and installations from before and I felt perfect opportunity to try to play with this three forms and create mixed media work that will be connect and will express the way how I accept and understand the topic of this excange ‘solidarity’

The last period I use my facebook status to write some shorts about monsters and monster mood and somehow I find connection between the monster.s and solidarity. I try to show the main feelings that I have when I think about solidarity. I made monster[s] that [are] push[ing] for solidarity.

Monster.S for Solidarity

In the painted form I played with graff, stickers and expressionistic techniques. The stickers that I made before I apply in the wooden board same as sometimes I put them on the walls around the places where I travel.. ..

In the installation I try to use as less as possible, because one of the aim in my works is to show that a lot of things can be created from low budget materials, most of them organic and easy for recycling. This ecoLogic.al way of creating art in my eyes is the future of the contemporary design, art & living.

In the short conceptual and bit experimental video I give a soul to the monster that I already have it in 2 forms..that comes to my concept like finishing the circle of 2D, 3D with bringing the monster in moving and giving him life. I create monster with feelings..

The combination of this 3 forms bring my idea and concept in final result in which the message is clean..if u understand it good if not again good 🙂

In the wireless connection I found colors on the top of the TV. The youth in the box were speaking about art. Modern or contemporary?
If you still can’t find the difference between these two periods in the creative era don’t worry because the line between those is not very good defined, except that the artist in the contemporary period can use the telephone, video, TV, and all the modern technology we have now. In the modern period the artists still didn’t have some of those materials/ products.
If we are looking for the right definition about the word Contemporary we know that it means “art that has been and continues to be created during our lifetimes”. In other words, contemporary to us.
It is a period that started in the 60’s and the beginning of the 70’s. As we saw that after the postmodern there where still new things coming and the designers and artists show totally new ways of expressing themselves.
The difference in this last period of the evolution of art is that you can write on the paper and it is not necessary something to be written at all. It is also not necessary to be explained to the audience what does that mean. It’s all about the human eye and how it accepts these works of art. Usually nowadays we can find groups of artists gathered in community, creating conceptual stuff which are difficult to be explained and are observed only from small circles of people who are into art. Over the past 40 years we saw what kind of shapes and forms this period can create to evolve into today’s level where the reception of art is crystallized till moment of refinement.
.
Every different period brings new waves in different fields of the normal day living. We live in      time when we wait for new application and upgrade of the old one everyday, when good commercial, advertisings and designs take our attention. We want to enter in objects that bring us new way of thinking and combine the elements and the knowledge from the classical ages till now. Exactly that is living in contemporary environment.
There are new lines in the forms of the architecture that starts building in the last 30 – 40 years, different relation with the theatre, painted art, photography, literature, movie and all other brunches of the art as a whole.

New forms were born like art installations, multi media, visual art etc. There are different issues with which the artist or the groups connect with, such as feminism, multiculturalism, globalization, bio-engineering and AIDS and cancer awareness. Most of the time, contemporary art is closely related to the modern, postmodern and avant-garde period of art. In today’s art, materials which are used in the creation of an art-work are collection of information that the materials carry by themselves and their combination is aimed to convey a specific thought / paragraph for a particular condition.

Ones of the best presenters of this period who border with the postmodern are Marina Abramovich (performance artist), Banksy (graffiti artist), Yoko Ono (musician, artist), Laurie Anderson (performance artist), Slaven Tolj (performance, installation artist), Richard Wilson (sculptor), Philip Pocock (internet and installation artist), Kenneth Noland  (painter), Charles Bukowski (writer, poet), Takashi Murakami (sculptor and painter), Santiago Calatrava (architect)  and so much more situated in a lot of different categories like feminist art, neo-conceptualism, neo-expressionism, multiculturalism, graffiti movement, neo-pop, futurism, minimalism and so on.
.
Contemporary art is art in action. As a whole, it is very difficult to analyze it, mostly because of all those groups and subgroups in which artists define their expression. Groups create art that is engaged, which is protest or support of a political process, a revolt against a global problem, poverty, discrimination, gender inequality, environmental problems etc..

Nowadays, art is taking part of everything. When you buy products you choose those who have better form and design, on TV and internet we more often stay on some programs and pages that bring something unique and not seen before. The things that we can see in the galleries are based on deeper concept that is the main point on which we should put attention.
Contemporary artists are here to bring progressive ways of understanding the life like sustainable and innovative living with use of organic and recycled materials. When mother Earth is more respected, all her resources can be used in more creative way.
Everything what we do in present time can be seen as a contemporary way of living and the works that we produce can be seen as contemporary art. 🙂
.
On this exchange we are going to talk about contemporary art and we will share our knowledge about art during this modern age of living. We are also going to discuss about the materials which are used by the present artists in order to create their works and what kind of message they bring.
There will be workshops where we will express our ideas via all those different ways.

Like a part of the stage for Contemporary arts on Balkan Youth Festival I had the opportunity to participate in the painting in two street art paintings.      The atmosphere while I was drawing was very good, the local citizens were making walk to the way to the summer theater and park, from the side that go up, and to the center of the city, on the side that goes down. We were spread in the little forest in front of the hotel Sandanski, which just show the beautiful and big city park. On the opposite side brake-dancers were dancing on HIP-HOP, R&B  and Brake Beat music.

In the air you could feel the smell of the colors, the noise of the rhythm the spray cans. With smile on my face I welcomed the little kids that arrived and ask me what I am painting, because I was drawing  short cut of the word YOUTH like U-TH,  and it was very difficult to be recognized at the beginning. They were asking me about the colors, and why I choose this word. I answered them that the future is in the hands of the Youth, that all the youngsters could  create better tomorrow. I sad to someone that in the real life if you get material and space where you could express yourself  like author when you want, then we talk about real progress in his own meaning.

We finished the painting we set the paintings around the trees in the ally of the park. Different levels of light from the street lights was giving different perspective on the pictures that makes them more attractive. The people that were going to the BYF – Concert had the opportunity to see the setting of the Night Street Exhibition, and unnoticed pass in the opening  of the exhibition. I took my back pack, made a circle around the exhibition, and satisfied I catch the way to the concert.

In the second day when the stage of contemporary art happened I decide to draw character with some content around him. I wanted the moment to hit in same time on the character and on the content also, that’s why I choice more simple character and not so complex story in front of him. I wanted the story to show  the vision of one young man and everything to be in one composition with the topic that I draw before U-TH. This time I choose  to draw on a horizontal surface  and I took material long 4 meters, After I put the character in the beginning of the picture, I decide to put my vision in mechanism of one clock, or the process of time passing, with more colors inside. Every deferent position and condition  which every Youth can find himself. Some of the parts are separating, from one they are becoming two and after they are becoming one again.

I was impressed by one old man, local photographer who was following the process of my painting, and ask me for one photography. I know that I wont see this photography, but somehow I felt nice when he ask me to make a photography. I saw how he sees the life trough the  prism of his lens, and I wanted to be a part of that tape, I know him from the past years. He is one of the oldest supporters of the festival.

And for him the festival is good. It makes him to be younger, and for me the conversation with him was a lesson, I was following him calmly while he was telling his story and the way how the local people salutes him. He told me the he likes the colors and the concept, I said thank you, for the photography also. I finished the picture few minutes before the start of the concert, we put the paintings around, and intimately between the participants we opened the Night exhibition and with our back packs together with the crowd we went to the summer theater for the beginning of the concert.

This year the Balkan Youth Festival had again a successful realization of the Stage for Contemporary Street Arts. The stage for break-dancing was in front of hotel Sandanski and the space around was filled with people, presenting a moment of inspiration. Around 10 young artists created great works of art. There were painters from Bulgaria, Serbia and Macedonia. The collection of the BYF was enriched by few more graffiti, characters, conceptual works and action paintings.

The break-dancers made the atmosphere alive and joyful with the rhythm of the beats, which were the background of showing their different styles of dancing. One after another in the same rhythm made different shapes of their body while the audience was getting bigger. The difference in the age and the art of dancing could not be seen, everyone had the right of the 5 minutes, showing their style of dancing, and the more experienced showed the younger the complicated movements so that they can learn them in the future.

The girls, participating in the Stage for Contemporary Street Arts – Maya, Silvia and Tony showed a unique sensibility in their expression. Their works are made out of lines, which touch the depths of tenderness and mystery.

The choice of colors stood for the diversity in the festival another year. Everyone has a way of showing their perception of the world and the imagination in it. After the active hours of dancing and drawing, the works were left on the path to the summer theatre as an open night exhibition that was seen by everyone, visiting the concerts in the BYF program.

After the end of the concerts the works were gathered by the short-term EVS volunteers and the local volunteers and the next day they were taking them out again.

The Stage for Contemporary Street Arts was successfully covered by the media – most of the participants gave an interview and the process of their work was shot by the photographers of the BYF.

This is something that I watch!
Its about one of the best ( for me ) street art painters. He do very good staff, who make the people thinking about some points of view. I like the video also that he made it, about optical illusion, and about believing in everything that we see. Respect and for the indoor art. For me not just only great street art painter but and perfect art artist.

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle.
Then I realised God doesn’t work that way, so I stole
one and prayed for forgiveness.
